I am entering my 6th year at Wilson School, and my 3rd year in the 4th grade. My previous experience has been in kindergarten. I'm planning an enjoyable, challenging, and exciting curriculum this year. I feel all of my experiences to date have enriched my teaching abilities. I was born and raised in Petaluma. You can say I'm a "local girl". I received my Bachelor's Degree from Sonoma State University in Early Childhood Education Hutchins Department and my Teaching Credential from there as well. I'm so honored to be teaching in this community. Wilson School is a powerful learning community that has a lot to offer your child.

Thursday, August 26, 2010 Ms. Evenich’s – 4th grade Weekly Newsletter   We’re off to a good start! Room P2 students are working hard on getting to know routines and schedules. I have just a few reminders. Please look over your child’s homework planner every night to check and see if they are on track. Also, look over their homework and see if they have any questions. If they do not turn in their homework first thing in the morning they will lose their first recess time. Please remember that the homework that goes home is an extension or practice work from that day’s current math, writing or language arts activities. This is not a new concept. Your child should know how to do it, but may need some additional support. ACCELERATED READING – Your child either has or will have very soon their A/R reading level and a goal for the 1st trimester. They have their own reading file in the classroom they are responsible for. This takes the place of reading logs. They need to update it weekly and keep track of their goal points and tests. I can assure just about every parent that this reading program is very aggressive and your child needs to be reading every night or they will not make their goal. Please come talk to me if you should have any questions. Please note that the Scholastic Book order form is also attached. I will send these home monthly. Our classroom receives credit if you order books for your child. Orders usually take about two-weeks to come in after we place the order. Please take the time to talk to your child about ordering something they might like to read. Also please make sure you put your child’s name on the order form and make checks payable to: Scholastic Books. Orders are due next Friday, September 3rd. ICE CREAM SALES! If you want to raise money towards your child’s Gold Rush overnight trip, please sign up for selling ice cream on Friday’s after school. This is a great opportunity and takes very little effort. We sell ice cream from 2:50 to 3:10pm. Only 20 minutes and the money raised goes towards lowering your balance of the trip cost. Tomorrow Susie and Zack Clark and Jill and Sandy Sirois are selling in the back parking lot. There are still several openings to sell and we need parents to sign up for the following week. Additional information *The first PTA meeting is Tuesday, September 7th at 7:00pm. Come and join us! *I NEED EVERY PARENT TO SIGN UP FOR AT LEAST ONE THING IN MY CLASSROOM. YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO HELP OUT WITH SUPPLIES OR CONTRIBUTE TO HELPING OUT FOR ONE MONTH AS A ROOM PARENT. I STILL HAVE SEVERAL OPENINGS THAT NEED TO BE FILLED. I WILL CALL YOU IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED UP TO HELP OUT IN SOME WAY. PLEASE STOP BY THE CLASSROOM AND CHECK OUT THE SIGN UP SHEETS. *Please make sure your child is getting ten hours or more sleep every night and eating a nutritious breakfast each morning. Also make sure your child brings a healthy snack to eat at first recess. If there are any problems, questions, or concerns, please email me or call me at school.
