Dear Families:
Welcome Back! Wildcats!
Welcome back to another
exciting year at Wilson School. We
had a busy summer getting ready to welcome back our students and families. Hopefully you were able to drop in to
see our remodeled Kindergarten room and hallway. They look fresh and clean.
Welcome New Teachers: Ms. Karen Levin who is teaching our 3-4
combination class is back after a year away from us and Mrs. Lisa Pologeorgis is
newly hired and teaching Kindergarten.
I am very excited that we can add these strong teachers to our already
strong teaching staff.
Sonoma County Office of
Education noted in their press release that Wilmar District (Wilson School) is
one of five small schools that continue to show growth in STAR test
results. Way to go Wildcats. You should have received a copy of your
child’s STAR results in your back to school packet. Feel free to contact us if you need a copy. We will find out our school wide progress
in a couple of weeks.
The Mighty Mouth Dental
program permission slips are coming
home today. This is a nice service
sponsored by St. Joseph Health System.
Please see the flyer for details.
Farmers Market this Saturday 11 am-2 pm. This should be a fun event. Hope to see you there.
Hot Lunch. We are
receiving lunches from Petaluma City Schools again. We have a link on our website to the lunch calendar. Click on the calendar link and you will
find the link to our lunch program.
Or you can go to: http://www.pcsfoods.com/wilson%20menu.html
Calendar Items:
September 1 is our first
School Site Council. Parents are
encouraged to attend and join the team.
September 6 is a national
holiday, Labor Day. No school.
September 22 is PICTURE DAY.
Our enrollment has increased
to 214 students, up from 205 last year.
This increase in enrollment is one of the reasons we could hire a new
teacher.
Job opening. Susie
Clark is stepping down as our Friendship Room Coordinator. This
job is about 15 hours per week.
The coordinator receives training in non directed play. Children come once a week to the
friendship room for about 12 weeks.
This program has had wonderful results. If you are interested, pick up an application in the office
and feel free to talk to me about the job. Deadline to apply is two weeks, September 9th.
We will have our challenges
this year, as we seem to have every year.
Together we can keep Wilson strong academically, physically, and
socially. Your volunteer support
helps all of our students and teachers, as well as your child. Thank you for your many selfless acts
at Wilson.
And as always, Go Wildcats!
Mr. Hoppes
